About This Product

At 3.11 grams, the tenth ounce Maple Leaf is the smallest coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's gold series, and still contains .9999 fine gold with the same design as its larger counterparts: the sugar maple leaf, the monarch's portrait, and the struck weight, purity and Canadian denomination.

Small formats are usually bought for three reasons — a low cost per item, the ability to accumulate gold slowly, and gifting. They also allow gold to be released in very small amounts if needed.

The premium is the highest of the Maple Leaf sizes. A tenth ounce coin takes similar minting effort to a one ounce coin, and that fixed cost is spread over a tenth of the metal, so the price per gram sits well above the larger issues. It is a size chosen for convenience rather than for buying weight efficiently.

NGB supplies tenth ounce Maple Leaves to buyers of physical gold in Hong Kong, priced from the live market, with collection by appointment in Wan Chai.
